About Me
I'm an artist raised, living and working in Edinburgh. I studied at Telford College, Edinburgh specialising in Jewellery making and design before going on to study Visual Arts and Culture at the University of Salford, Manchester.
Since everyone and their dogs have cameras I feel it is more important than ever for Artist's to work away from the photorealistic depictions that marked excellence in the art history of the past. My brain is hardwired to coin and warp somewhat abstract graphic inventions that are visually stimulating.
I like to make the unseen seen, To depict psychological process in imagery, deal with social issues and raise the profile of philosophical insight in the people who see my work, i try to do this subtly as no one likes being preached at. I explore diverse issues in my work (from animal rights to semiotic processes) and am at present taking several styles of working in art forward.
Over September 2013 to September 2014 I have been working with "The Gallery on the corner" in Edinburgh, making works specifically for them to sell to raise money for an autism charity network.
Being Scottish, Celtic culture is a recurrent motif in my work. I take my inspiration from anything and everything but particularly i like anime films, event flyers , promo music posters, traditional buddhist paintings, Hindu sculptures, Japanese wood block prints 14th-18thc, the architecture of pre-modern cambodia and the vienna successionist artists as strong areas of inspiration.
Periodically I have to briefly unpublish the site to change the works that I show on it so if at any time this site fails to load when you look it up, it's likely to be for that reason. I should be rectified by the next day at the latest (Usually it only takes a few hours). This site has a data limit so I can't log all of my work on it.
